3 Players Named To Team Switzerland's Roster

Team Switzerland has selected its first three players for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Nico Hischier, Roman Josi and Timo Meier will all be representing the country in Beijing this February.

It certainly makes sense seeing Hischier as one of Switzerland's first picks. He was the first Swiss player to ever be selected first overall and is already captain of the New Jersey Devils at just 22 years old. Injuries impacted him last season, though, as he was limited to just 21 games. In them, he scored six goals and had five assists. Now that he's healthy, expect more from him offensively this season. However, his excellent defensive play is also worthy of praise, too.

This will be Josi's third time at the Olympics. He has the most points ever by a Swiss player in the NHL, so it's easy to see why he's been picked. He also was the first Swiss defenseman to win the Norris Trophy during the 2019-20 season. In 48 games this past season with the Nashville Predators, he scored eight goals and recorded 33 points as their captain.

Meier is another good NHLer to have. In 54 games this past season with the San Jose Sharks, he scored 12 goals and had 31 points. However, he has the potential to contribute even more offensively. During the 2018-19 season, he scored 30 goals and had 66 points in 78 games. Perhaps he can reach those totals yet again this season.
