Alex Ovechkin Passes Marcel Dionne On NHL All-Time Goals List
Alex Ovechkin started the regular season on the right foot, as he scored two goals in the Washington Capitals' season opener against the New York Rangers. With this, he passed Marcel Dionne and is now fifth on the NHL all-time goals list with 732 goals.
Marcel Dionne left Ovechkin an immensely classy video praising him. He also pulled out a Washington Capitals hat and said that he would wear it the entire day when Ovechkin passed him. Now, Dionne will have to do so.we aren't breathing pic.twitter.com/vJplMB73kF

Ovechkin won't be number five on this list for too long, though, as he is only nine goals behind Brett Hull for fourth. What's also so incredible about Ovechkin's run is that he's only played 1,198 games at this point. He also just signed a five-year extension with the Capitals, so he could very well catch Wayne Gretzky by the end of it. He is now just 162 goals away from tying him.Listen to the full unedited congrats message from Marcel Dionne to Ovi.#ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/ipaVDBVORz

Hockey fans should be embracing Ovechkin's dominance right now. Scorers like him do not come around very often.
