Anaheim Ducks Place Two Players On Waivers
The Anaheim Ducks have placed forward Derek Grant and defenseman Greg Pateryn on waivers. These are two veterans who both have a good amount of NHL experience.
It's surprising to see Grant on waivers. He's been an effective bottom-six forward who also works very well on the penalty kill. In 46 games last season with the Ducks, he scored six goals and had 15 points. In the previous season with the Ducks and Philadelphia Flyers, he had 15 goals and 25 points. Therefore, he can provide solid depth scoring as well.
Grant has two years remaining on his contract and has a $1.5 million AAV, so that could make teams stay away from him. We will have to wait and see.
Pateryn is a depth defenseman who has spent some time in the AHL over the last two seasons. In 13 games last season between the Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks, he had three assists. He is a defensive defenseman who has never been dominant on the scoresheet. In 282 career NHL games, he has four goals, 38 assists and 42 points.
