Anaheim Ducks Release Veteran Forward From PTO

The Anaheim Ducks have released Tobias Rieder from his professional tryout contract. The 28-year-old winger will now be looking for a new home elsewhere.
Rieder spent last season with the Buffalo Sabres and primarily played in their bottom-six. In 44 games with the Sabres, he scored five goals and had two assists. In the season before with the Calgary Flames, he scored four goals and had 10 points.

His best scoring days in the league came during his first few NHL seasons with the Arizona Coyotes. During the 2015-16 season, for example, he scored 14 goals and had 37 points in 82 games. After a 34-point campaign the following season with the Coyotes, he was never able to replicate that kind of offensive success.

It will be intriguing to see where Rieder ends up from here. It would not be surprising if he decides to continue his hockey career overseas.
