We recently reported that there was a good chance that Matthews would play against the Rangers, but now we have confirmation from the player himself.
Matthews missed the first three games of the season, but Toronto still has a solid 2-1-0 record thus far. He is expected to center a line with Nick Ritchie and Mitch Marner. It will be intriguing to see how the trio does together.
Matthews is coming off of a fantastic season. In 52 games, he had a monstrous 41 goals and 66 points. Without much surprise, he led the league in goals and brought home the Rocket Richard Trophy. It will not be surprising to see him do it again this year, as he's one of the league's top scorers.
Nonetheless, Toronto fans certainly should be ecstatic that Matthews is ready to go.
