Brady Tkachuk Rejects Latest Offer from Senators
The Ottawa Senators and forward Brady Tkachuk continue to negotiate a new contract and word is Tkachuk has rejected a seven and eight year deal and is holding out for a bridge deal.
This would be the same set up as his brother Matthew with the Calgary Flames who signed a three-year deal worth $7 million per season back in 2019. He's been involved informally in the discussions as it's certainly been a family affair.
Ottawa wants to get their Tkachuk locked up as long as possible as he's a cornerstone piece to their franchise but to this point, it just hasn't worked out and they don't want to settle on a bridge deal. It's certainly at a standoff at this point.
Lack of communication from Ottawa to the Brady Tkachuk camp is a big reason of what’s preventing Tkachuk from being signed. The Senators Owner has a history of this with star players. The team is set only on signing Tkachuk to a 7 or 8 year term vs doing a bridge deal. 1/2

Last season, Tkachuk managed to produce 36 points in 56 games as a 21-year-old and now has three seasons of experience under his belt before his 22nd birthday. With opening night approaching, look for one side or the other to cave. From all accounts it's likely going to be the Senators who come off their long term offers.
