Buffalo Sabres Claim Defenseman From Los Angeles Kings

The Buffalo Sabres have claimed defenseman Christian Wolanin off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

Wolanin played three games with the Kings last season after he was traded by the Ottawa Senators for Michael Amadio. Before the move, he suited up in 15 games with Ottawa and had three assists.

He is defenseman who has had offensive success at the NHL level previously. In 30 games with the Senators during the 2018-19 season, he scored four goals and had 12 points. In Buffalo, he will be looking to produce like that again. He also had 31 points in 40 games with Belleville Senators that same season.

In 61 career NHL games thus far, he has five goals, 13 assists and 18 assists.

Buffalo could be the perfect location for Wolanin. Their depth on the backend is not particularly strong and Henri Jokijarhu, another right-handed defenseman, is out week-to-week as well. Thus, this is a big chance for Wolanin to get notable NHL time again.
