Buffalo Sabres Claim Forward From Washington Capitals

The Buffalo Sabres have claimed forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby off waivers from the Washington Capitals.
This move could open the door for Jonsson-Fjallby to begin his career as an NHLer. The Sabres have far less depth than the Capitals, so perhaps he could wiggle his way into their lineup shortly. He is coming off of a season where he did show signs of improvement, too.

Jonsson-Fjallby split last season between Sweden and the AHL. In 26 games with Vasterviks IK, he scored four goals and had 15 points. With the Hershey Bears, he scored 10 goals and recorded 15 points in 31 games. During the 2019-20 season in Hershey, he scored 12 goals and had 23 points in 61 points.

With Jonsson-Fjallby still being just 23 years old, he is still capable of further improvement. We will have to wait and see if moving to Buffalo benefits him in the long-run.
