Buffalo Sabres To Remain Patient While Searching For Jack Eichel Trade

Although the Buffalo Sabres certainly need to trade Jack Eichel, their goal is to remain patient in the process, according to Elliotte Friedman. He also noted that Buffalo wants to not only get an acceptable return for their star, but also still will not retain any of his $10 million cap hit.

Friedman also stated that this is exactly what the team did when they dealt with defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. It had been known that the 26-year-old defenseman was disgruntled in Buffalo for multiple years, but the Sabres did not rush to move him. This turned out to be the right call by the team, as they received a very good return for him. They received defenseman Robert Hagg, the 14th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and a 2023 second-round pick. With Philadelphia's first, they took forward Isak Rosen and he now is viewed as one of their top prospects.

We recently reported that the Sabres rejected an offer from the Colorado Avalanche because they wanted Buffalo to retain some of Eichel's salary. However, like previously stated, the Sabres are entirely against doing this.

Due to the fact that Buffalo has yet to trade Eichel after all of these months, it is easy to tell that they are in fact remaining patient. We will have to wait and see if it pays off for them once they finally move the star center. However, until general manager Kevyn Adams gets a return that he finds acceptable, Eichel will remain a Sabre.
