Colorado Avalanche Defenseman OUT for Team Canada's Olympic Team
While Team Canada has only named three players for the upcoming Olympics, sounds like some players are starting to find out they'll be on the outside looking in. According to Samuel Girard of the Colorado Avalanche, he's been told he's not being considered for the team.
A little Canadian Olympic roster nugget: Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard says GM Doug Armstrong told him he is NOT on Canada's "long list" of players eligible to make the team.

Girard was a long shot to make the team but was seen as a solid candidate for the final defensive spot and at least the team's short list. The likes of Thomas Chabot of the Ottawa Senators and Morgan Rielly of the Toronto Maple Leafs are likely sitting ahead of Girard on the depth chart.
So far Team Canada has named Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Alex Pietrangelo to the team. Crosby and McDavid spent a few weeks together in Montreal this past summer, playing on the same line and getting used to one another on the ice as teammates. Word is they have been told it's likely they will play together in Beijing.
As for Girard he's out, and his teammate Cale Makar is likely in. Let's see how many other players come forward with sharing their unfortunate news.
