Video: Devils' Mason Geertsen Goes After Kraken's Jeremy Lauzon After He Injures Jack Hughes
Tuesday night's tilt between the New Jersey Devils and Seattle Kraken was a very physical one. Kraken defenseman Jeremy Lauzon threw a huge hit on Jack Hughes, which forced the 2019 first overall pick to leave the game. Naturally, the Devils and their fans were angry that their young star was injured.
As a result of this, Mason Geertsen went after Lauzon and immediately starting throwing punches at him. Two linesmen would get between them, but that did not stop Geertsen from getting in a few good shots.
Geertsen was claimed off waivers by the Devils from the New York Rangers earlier this month. It's safe to say that he's gained the love of New Jersey fans by doing this. This was also his first ever NHL game. That's not a bad way for a player to start his NHL career.#NJDevils Mason Geertsen goes after #SeaKraken Jeremy Lauzon for a hit that has sent Jack Hughes out of the game. 👊 pic.twitter.com/FwdpybeGSm

Although Hughes was in clear pain, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff has noted that he's day-to-day at this time. Here's to hoping this remains true and he's back on the ice shortly.
