Edmonton Oilers Forward Out Indefinitely
Edmonton Oilers head coach Dave Tippett announced today that Josh Archibald will be out indefinitely. The 28-year-old forward has been diagnosed with myocarditis and had COVID-19 over the summer.
Late last month, it was confirmed by general manager Ken Holland that Archibald was unvaccinated. Mark Spector of Sportsnet also reported that Archibald was the only unvaccinated player from every Canadian NHL team.Today's update indicated that #Oilers forward Josh Archibald will be out indefinitely. https://t.co/WicSBnfekO

Archibald became a mainstay in Edmonton's lineup over these last two seasons. Last season, he scored seven goals and recorded 13 points in 52 games. The year before, he scored 12 goals and had 21 points in 62 games. He also was a notable part of their penalty kill, too.
In 235 career NHL games between the Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes and Oilers, Archibald has 39 goals, 31 assists and 70 points.
Archibald is now the second Oiler to be diagnosed with myocarditis after contracting COVID-19. Goaltender Alex Stalock missed last season and won't play this season because of it, too. Here's to hoping both players recover soon.
