Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Calls Out His Team Over Same Ol' Story
Edmonton Oilers coach Dave Tippett is as candid as they come and recently his team squeaked out a victory over the Winnipeg Jets and Tippett gave an honest assessment after the game. The Oilers HC called his team's performance rotten and is not happy with what he's seeing.
The Oilers managed to top the Jets 4-3, however it was the lack of effort and carelessness Tippett is sick and tired of already as this is something that's boiled over from last season. Tippett wasn't shy when he spoke to the media after the game, even discussing Leon Draisaitl's passing habits:
He threw a lot of backhands tonight — some to our team, some to the other team. The problem is, when that happens in the playoffs it usually goes against you. And that’s the problem I have with it. We were red rotten. I know how to play in the playoffs. That’s all I can say.
If the Oilers don't make some noise in the 2021-22 NHL postseason, look for major changes to come in Edmonton. For now, there's a truly skilled team and a determined coach looking for his club to play a certain style that's going to benefit them during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
