General Manager Marc Bergevin Provides Update On Montreal Canadiens Captain Shea Weber
During the off-season, Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin dropped the bombshell that Shea Weber would not only miss the entirety of the 2021-22 season, but also would likely never play another NHL game again.
Now, in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, he told reporters that Weber has not had any surgeries since the completion of last season. With this, he also noted that he still will not play this season and said "it's a longshot" when asked if Weber could play again.
Naturally, fans would have wanted the news from this summer about Weber to change, but sadly, nothing has at this time. Even with all of injury trouble, he was still a very good defenseman last season. In 48 games, he scored six goals and had 19 points. With that, he added six points in 24 games during the postseason.Marc Bergevin says Shea Weber hasn't had any surgeries since the end of last season. Said he won't be back this year. When asked if he was holding out hope he'd resume his career one day, he said, "it's a longshot."

The Canadiens certainly miss him on their blueline right now, as they have started the regular season with a 0-4-0 record.
