Maple Leafs Nylander: We Needed to Stop Feeling Sorry For Ourselves

The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled out a huge win on Wednesday night as they topped the Chicago Blackhawks with a 3-2 comeback victory. William Nylander scored the overtime winner for the Leafs and admitted after the game the team needed to stop feeling sorry for themselves.

Nylander spoke to the media and had this to say about the team's character win:

Time to wake up. Enough feeling sorry for ourselves. Like nobody is going to get us out of this. We needed to up the battle

Nylander has been a beast for the Maple Leafs and arguably their best player since the Stanley Cup playoffs last season. He currently leads the team in points and looks poised for a big season playing on the top-line with Auston Matthews.

Nylander wasn't the only one who chatted about the win, goaltender Jack Campbell admitted it was a first intermission chat from a couple of the players who intentionally pissed people off with some chirps:

I think (they) got us, quite frankly, pissed off. I think that's what sparked us. Love seeing the passion and love seeing guys come through on the ice with it too. And, you know, everybody was battling

The Maple Leafs needed the win in the Windy City to snap a winless streak and now they look to create their own streak in the right direction when they play host to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.
