Montreal Canadiens Claim Goaltender From Florida Panthers
The Montreal Canadiens have claimed goaltender Sam Montembeault on waivers from the Florida Panthers.
Montembeault last appeared in the NHL during the 2019-20 season with the Panthers. In 14 games, he had a 5-5-1 record and .890 SV%. During the season before in Florida, he went 4-3-2 and sported an .894 SV%.
Montembeault spent the entirety of last season in the AHL. In 13 games with the Syracuse Crunch, he had an 8-4-1 record, 2.86 GAA and .898 SV%.
At 24 years old, it is possible that Montembeault still can improve, so this could be a nice move for the Canadiens. He will provide them with another goaltender who is capable of playing at the NHL level, which is certainly beneficial with how often injuries occur.
