Multiple Players Placed On Waivers

The NHL's waiver list for October 9th is certainly an entertaining one. In total, there are 12 players available for the taking and a good portion of them are notable.

Starting off with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kurtis Gabriel is available. The 28-year-old enforcer is the perfect player for an NHL team to claim if they want to get tougher. In 11 games this past season with the San Jose Sharks, he was held off the scoresheet, but had an outrageous 55 penalty minutes.

The Boston Bruins also have waived both John Moore and Chris Wagner. Moore could work as a bottom-pair defenseman elsewhere, but his $2.75 million cap hit for the next two seasons makes it unlikely that he will be picked up. Wagner, on the hand, has been a mainstay in Boston's bottom-six these last three seasons and could end up claimed. In 41 games last season, he had two goals and three assists.

Recently acquired Logan Brown is available from St. Louis Blues, too. It would not be surprising to see him claimed. The Ottawa Senators likely wouldn't go back down the road based on how things ended, but it would be shocking if all 30 of the other teams pass on the 2016 first-round pick. Keep in mind, the Blues traded Zach Sanford to get him, so why wouldn't a team want him for free? The Buffalo Sabres and Anaheim Ducks could use another young forward.

Some other interesting players include Richard Panik, Dylan Gambrell and MacKenzie MacEachern.
