New Jersey Devils Claim Player From Division Rival
The New Jerseys Devils have claimed defenseman Mason Geertsen off waivers from the New York Rangers.
Geertsen has yet to make his NHL debut, but he certainly is worth talking about. The 6'4" defenseman is known for playing a very physical game and is never afraid to drop the gloves if needed. In 20 games this past season with the Hartford Wolf Pack, he scored three goals and added two assists. He also had 43 penalty minutes.#NEWS: We have claimed D Mason Geertsen off waivers from the NY Rangers.https://t.co/j1qVMnVFQC

In his two previous seasons with the Wolf Pack, he had over 100 penalty minutes as well.
This is a solid depth addition for the Devils. The 26-year-old could potentially even get some time with the NHL club if they are looking to add a bit of toughness to their lineup.
