New York Rangers Hit with Another Key Injury

The New York Rangers have put forward Kaapo Kakko on the injured reserve. The young forward sustained a upper-body injury on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Kakko is expected to miss at least the remainder of the Rangers four-game road trip, which continues on Monday night at Scotiabank Arena as the Rangers take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kakko went back and forth with Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov with a couple of big body checks and lets just say it's obvious who was worse for wear. This is supposed to be a big season for the third-year forward as the Rangers are giving him a bigger role with the hockey club in 2021-22. Last season in 48 games he recorded 17 points and so far has been held off the scoresheet in the three games he dressed for.

The Rangers have recalled Morgan Barron to dress on Monday night against the Maple Leafs, even though top prospect Vitali Kravtsov is available but demanding a trade.
