Ottawa Senators: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Ottawa Senators. At this point in time, they have current RFA Brady Tkachuk still to re-sign. When it comes to next summer they will have a couple of notable players with expired deals as well.

Josh Norris C (RFA): In his first full NHL season, Josh Norris couldn't have done much better. In 56 games, he scored 17 goals and recorded 35 points. It will be intriguing to see what he's capable of doing this go-around. If he puts up numbers similar to that or even more, the 22-year-old forward certainly will earn his big payday.

Nick Paul LW (UFA): Nick Paul is a very underrated player, but it's apparent that the Senators appreciate him immensely. The 6'3" forward is one of their alternate captains heading into the season. In each of the last two seasons, he has recorded 20 points in 56 games. With that, he's become a very solid penalty killer and is never shy to throw the body around. The Senators should aim to keep him around, and with him now being one of their leaders, it seems quite likely that they do.

Chris Tierney C (UFA): Chris Tierney is an interesting player heading into this season. In 55 games last season, he scored six goals and had 19 points. It was a down year for the 27-year-old, but in his first two seasons in Ottawa, he was a very solid offensive threat. If he's able to replicate his 48-point campaign during the 2018-19 season this time around, he should land himself a nice contract.

Other Players With Expiring Deals: Victor Mete D (RFA), Alex Formenton LW (RFA), Erik Brannstrom D (RFA)
