Pittsburgh Penguins Dealing With Covid Outbreak

The Pittsburgh Penguins are dealing with some early adversity as the team now has two players who have tested positive for COVID. Forward Jake Guentzel was confirmed on Sunday to have tested positive for the virus, even though he's been vaccinated.

Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed the news and mentioned the team and their medical staff will follow all protocols and monitor Guentzel's situation over the next couple of weeks. Here's what Sullivan had to say to the media:

I think this is the reality of pro sports right now. Until the world gets a handle on this pandemic, we’re all trying to manage through it. I’m not sure there’s a whole lot we can do about it other than control what we can and react the right way. And that’s the conversation we’ve had with our players.

Guentzel joins Zach Aston-Reese as Penguins who have tested positive in the past week, as ZAR's confirmed case was back on September 27th. The contact tracing continues as the team tries to put a finger on what's going on with the team.
