Pittsburgh Penguins Sign Veteran Defenseman
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to an AHL contract. The 33-year-old signed a professional tryout contract with the Penguins before training camp. Therefore, it's clear that he's impressed them enough to earn a deal for the year.
Bartkowski suited up in one NHL game this past season with the Minnesota Wild, but was held off the scoresheet. He also played 23 games with the Iowa Wild, where he scored goal and had seven assists. The Penguins signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to an AHL contract. He was released from his PTO with Pittsburgh earlier today.

Bartkowski should be a very solid addition for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as he comes with a lot of overall experience, both in the NHL and AHL. It's never a bad thing to add depth to the blueline and signing Bartkowski does exactly that.
