Rumor: Chicago Blackhawks May Put Young Winger On Waivers

According to Scott Power of The Athletic, the Chicago Blackhawks are likely to put forward Alexander Nylander on waivers before the start of the regular season. This is due to both Chicago's forward depth and their need to get under the cap ceiling.

If this occurs, it will certainly be intriguing to see if another team takes a chance on Nylander. Keep in mind, he was the eighth overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but has yet to blossom into a true top-six winger.

Nylander missed the entirety of last season due to having knee surgery. During the 2019-20 season with the Blackhawks, he scored 10 goals and recorded 26 points in 65 games.

We will have to see if Power's prediction is correct. If it is, Nylander will instantly become a notable player on waivers.
