Rumor: Marc Bergevin Entering Final Season With Montreal Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is entering the final season of his current contract and according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, this is likely his last.

Seravalli, one of hockey's best insiders, gave his take on some predictions and Bergevin's future in Montreal made the list. Here's what the insider had to say about the GM's contract status:
Marc Bergevin will shake Geoff Molson’s hand and depart his post as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens following this season. There were already rumblings during the Stanley Cup Final that Bergevin would ride off into the sunset if the Habs hoisted the Cup last season. The job wears on you – especially taking the heat in two languages.

Word is the pressure of winning in Montreal is wearing on Bergevin and given all that's gone on with the roster and some issues off the ice, it's been a lot to digest and to manage through for the Habs GM. There isn't this type of pressure around the league for other executives, and you have to give him some credit for being able to stay in the position this long.

Expect Bergevin to be one of the hottest free agents on the market next summer.
