Rumor: New York Rangers Star Defenseman Wants Eight-Year Extension

The NHL has seen a number of top defenseman receive huge contracts since this off-season. Some of these players include Seth Jones, Dougie Hamilton and Miro Heiskanen. Charlie McAvoy also joined this list recently when he agreed to an eight-year, $76 million. Now, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, Adam Fox also wants an eight-year deal similar to McAvoy's.

Given the fact that Fox is the reigning Norris Trophy winner, he's in a position where he can ask for at least $10 million. In 55 games last season, he scored five goals and recorded 47 points. He's off to hot start this season as well. In three games, he has a goal and two assists.

The Rangers crossed off a big item from their to-do list when they signed Mika Zibanejad to his eight-year extension. With Fox still only being 23 years old, there's far less risk giving him a long-term contract. Don't be surprised to see the Rangers finalize a deal with Fox very soon. He's a special kind of player and worth every single penny.
