Sabres Rejecting Jack Eichel Trade Offers Over Certain Ask

The Buffalo Sabres are trying to trade their young captain Jack Eichel, however don't expect for the team to pay to do so. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Sabres have zero interest in retaining any salary in the trade.

Eichel is due $10 million through the 2025-26 NHL season and while the Sabres have agreed there can be conditions in the deal based on the amount of games played by Eichel, they want nothing to do with having to pay their star to leave.

You can't blame them, as everyone in the league knows they have to make a trade. Leverage has certainly been lost and now the team needs to stand their ground. The team has been talking to several teams about Eichel and these teams include the Calgary Flames, New York Rangers, LA Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights.

If the Sabres aren't retaining any salary, they are likely going to have to eat a bad contract in the deal just so teams can make it work under the cap. As of right now, the Ducks are believed to be the favorites to pull off a deal with the Sabres.
