Seattle Kraken Name First Captain In Franchise History
The Seattle Kraken have announced that defenseman Mark Giordano will be the first captain in their franchise's history.
It's very hard to argue against this, as the Giordano held the same role with the Calgary Flames these past eight seasons. Therefore, he is quite used to be a leader in the NHL. Most hockey fans expected this to happen because of this fact.Captain of the Seattle Kraken has a nice ring to it.

The Kraken selected Giordano in the NHL Expansion Draft this summer. Even at 38 years old, he is still a very good defenseman in this league. In 56 games last season, he scored nine goals and recorded 26 points. During the 2018-19 season, he also would win the Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman. In 78 games that year, he scored 17 goals and had 74 points.
In 949 career NHL games, Giordano has 143 goals, 366 assists and 509 points. For the first time in his career, though, he will not be wearing a Flames' jersey.
Along with Giordano, the Kraken have also named Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde, Adam Larsson and Jaden Schwartz as their alternate captains.
