Tampa Bay Lightning Sign Jon Cooper To Extension
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed head coach Jon Cooper to a three-year extension. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.
Earlier this month, we reported that the Lightning were having extension talks with Cooper. Therefore, it's not too surprising to see a deal has come into fruition. However, even with this being so, it's still massive that the Lightning have locked him up.Three more years of Cooooop!

Cooper has had a very strong tenure with the Lightning. Since taking over as head coach during the 2012-13 season, he's sported a 384-197-53 record. During the 2018-19 season, he would win the Jack Adams Award and led the Lightning to a 62-16-4 record. Yet, they of course would shockingly be swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round.
Now, that feels like ancient history, as Cooper has since led the Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships. He will be aiming to lead them to another one this season, but will be sporting a much different roster this season. Blake Coleman, Yanni Gourde, Barclay Goodrow, David Savard and Tyler Johnson were just some of their departures this summer. However, Cooper has the tools to adjust and still has plenty of star power on his roster.
