Team Sweden Picks First Three Players For The Olympics

Team Sweden has named its first three players for the 2022 Olympics. Gabriel Landeskog, Victor Hedman and Mika Zibanejad will all be playing in Beijing this upcoming February.

Overall, these three being named to the team is not surprising in the slightest. They are easily among the top players in the entire NHL.

Landeskog has been the captain of the Colorado Avalanche since the 2012-13 season and signed an eight-year extension with them over the summer. In 54 games last season, he scored 20 goals and recorded 52 points.

Victor Hedman is one of the best defensemen in the entire league and there's no denying that. He's one of the biggest reasons why the Tampa Bay Lightning have won back-to-back Stanley Cups. In 54 games last season, he scored nine goals and had 45 total points. He also recorded 18 points in 23 playoff games. Also, how could one forget that he won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2020?

Mika Zibanejad ended last season with 21 goals in 29 games, so it's apparent that he's quite an excellent scorer. In 56 games total, he had 24 goals and 50 points. During the season before, he scored 41 goals and had 75 points in just 57 games as well.

It will be intriguing to see who else will make Team Sweden's roster this winter.
