Toronto Maple Leafs Waive Veteran Goaltender

The Toronto Maple Leafs are clearing some space on their roster as training camp winds down. The team has announced they have waived goaltender Michael Hutchinson on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old netminder saw this coming as he wasn't in line to make the team and only would have if Jack Campbell or Petr Mrazek went down with injury. With that not being the case, 'Hutch' looks in line to be the starter for the AHL's Toronto Marlies, however, that's if no other team claims the veteran.

The southpaw from Barrie, Ontario has appeared in 135 NHL games, with the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and with the Maple Leafs. He even had some playoff duty with the Avalanche back in 2020 and showed he's capable of handling himself on the game's biggest stage.

Some teams that may take a look at Hutchinson include the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Buffalo Sabres.
