Trade Rumor: Jack Eichel Heading to Calgary Flames
The Buffalo Sabres and Jack Eichel are still trying to work out an agreement medically, and it sounds like a grievance could be on the way. It also sounds like a trade is closer now than ever and the Calgary Flames appear to be the front-runners.
Friedman on TJMS: "The teams I have wondered about with Eichel are Calgary, Vegas, I have heard less about Anaheim than I have heard in the past, Rangers, but again, now that they have signed Zibanejad, I don't think they can do it without someone retaining money"

The Flames have an identity crisis as they are going this season without a captain and didn't even name veteran Johnny Gaudreau an assistant. The team has a number of big name players becoming free agents this upcoming offseason and the Flames are certainly a team to watch when it comes to big changes.
In 2022 the Flames project to have $29 million in cap space so there's room to add Eichel's big ticket. The Sabres will want players under team control and not pending free agents who are likely to walk. Elias Lindholm is target #1 for the Sabres but at this point, the Flames have said no. Keep an eye on these two teams as some developments in the Eichel trade will be made in the next 10 days.
