Two Players To Have Contracts Terminated

The New York Islanders have placed forward Dmytro Timashov on unconditional waivers. With this, they are going to terminate the winger's contract. The Edmonton Oilers have also done the same thing with young forward Kirill Maksimov.

Timashov signed a one-year deal with the Islanders before the start of the regular season. At the time of the deal, it seemed that he was going to be a depth forward for them to have when injuries occur. He held this role with the organization last year as well. In 22 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he scored five goals and had 11 points. He also appeared in one games with the Islanders, but was held off the scoresheet.

Before joining the Islanders, Timashov spent the entirety of the 2019-20 season in the NHL. In 44 games between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings, he had four goals and nine points. It would not be surprising to see in a different league from here.

Maksimov was a prospect in Edmonton's system who has yet to make that jump to the NHL level. During the 2019-20 season with the Bakersfield Condors, he scored five goals and had 13 points. He spent last season on a loan in the KHL. With CSKA Moskva, he scored two goals and had an assist in 16 games. He also played in the VHL with Zvezda Moskva. In 25 games, he scored 12 goals and had 27 points. He will be continuing his professional career in Russia from here.
