Two Players Placed On Waivers

The New York Islanders have placed goaltender Cory Schneider on waivers. The Detroit Red Wings have also done the same thing to forward Kyle Criscuolo.

With Semyon Varlamov out, Schneider stayed with the Islanders as their backup. He did not make any appearances for the Islanders since the start of the regular season. Interestingly, he actually has never started a regular season game for the Islanders, even though this is his second year with the team.

If Schneider goes unclaimed, which seems very probable, he will once again be playing with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The 35-year-old played two games for the team last season, where he sported an .843 SV%.

Criscuolo was on Detroit's injured non-roster, so the 29-year-old forward now must be ready to go. Assuming nobody claims him, he will be playing his second campaign with the Grand Rapid Griffins. In 29 games last season, he scored 11 goals and had 19 points as an alternate captain. He last played in the NHL during the 2017-18 season with the Buffalo Sabres. In nine games, he did not record a point.
