Vancouver Canucks Finally Sign Their Two Big RFAs
The Vancouver Canucks have officially come to terms with both forward Elias Pettersson and defenseman Quinn Hughes. Pettersson will have an average annual value of $7.35 million over the next three seasons, while Hughes will be locked up for six years and have a $7.85 million cap hit.
It was reported yesterday that these two were expected to sign their new deals with the Canucks shortly, so this is not too surprising. However, even with this being so, Vancouver fans can finally relax. Their two young stars are finally locked up.Pettersson: 3x$7.35M. Hughes 6x$7.85M

They both had strong offensive campaigns last season as well. In 56 games, Hughes scored three goals and recorded 41. Pettersson was limited to just 26 games, but he had 10 goals and 21 total points.
The Canucks locking up Hughes for six years at that cap hit could end up being a great deal for them. He is still just 21 years old, so he should get better from here. Pettersson, on the other hand, has a short-term deal, but it's still a very good thing. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of it, so the Canucks will still have control over him.
Nonetheless, the Canucks now are going into the season with two of their top players. It's a good day to be a fan of the team.
