Vancouver Canucks Receiving Trade Offers on Veteran Defenseman
The Vancouver Canucks just signed defenseman Travis Hamonic in July of 2021 and already are having to deal with trading the veteran defenseman. From all accounts it sounds like the dialogue is constant and a trade should be coming soon.
Hamonic has trade protection to eight teams of his choice and is going to be moved out of Vancouver after the team learned he wasn't going to be reporting to training camp and was prepared to sit out the entire season over COVID protocols.
Hamonic's deal is worth $3 million and last season the right-handed mobile defender recorded 10 points in 38 games. After signing a two year deal, Hamonic has put his club in a bit of a tough spot with this sensitive situation.
As for interested teams, they will be from down in the US. Look for the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals and San Jose Sharks to have all different levels of interest and the Canucks are going to need to get creative to pull this one off, without hurting their team.
