Vancouver Canucks Sign Alex Chiasson
The Vancouver Canucks have signed Alex Chiasson to a one-year, $750,000 contract. The 31-year-old winger was on a PTO with the team during the preseason.
Chiasson should be a nice addition to the Canucks' bottom-six. He also works well on the power play because of his strong net-front presence. Therefore, he's capable of providing solid depth scoring.
In 45 games last season with the Edmonton Oilers, Chiasson scored nine goals and had 16 points. His best year with Edmonton came during the 2018-19 season. In 73 games that year, he scored 22 goals and had 38 total points.
In 564 career games between the Dallas Stars, Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and Oilers, Chiasson has 101 goals, 101 assists and 202 points. It will be interesting to see how much he improves upon those totals this season.
