Vancouver Canucks Veteran Forward Out Indefinitely
Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning has announced that Brandon Sutter is still experiencing COVID-19 symptoms after having the virus earlier this year. As a result of this, he will be out indefinitely.
Earlier this month, Benning stated that Sutter would miss the start of the season due to fatigue issues. The severity of the situation now has grown, so it makes sense that Sutter now doesn't have a definitive timeline to return.#Canucks’ Brandon Sutter still out indefinitely due to the persistence of COVID symptoms. He discussed his experience with the virus last spring at @TheAthletic.

A consummate pro, it’s hard to find a brighter human in the NHL. Hopefully he’s back soon: https://t.co/9qEeyz7Y9l pic.twitter.com/jnGV2WOlKM
This is such rough news. Sutter re-signed with the Canucks this summer on a one-year, $1.125 million contract. Over the last handful of seasons, Sutter has been an alternate captain for the team, so he's certainly a big presence in the locker room. He also has been an important piece of their penalty kill.
In 43 games last season with the team, he scored nine goals and had three assists.
Here's to hoping he gets healthy soon and can return to action.
