Video: Andrew Ladd Scores First NHL Goal Since 2019-20 Season
Arizona Coyotes forward Andrew Ladd scored his first goal since the 2019-20 season against the Buffalo Sabres. It also was his first goal with his new team and 250th of his career. The 35-year-old winger shot it past Dustin Tokarski after a nice feed by Ryan Dzingel.
It's been a hard couple years for Ladd, as the veteran forward dealt with many injuries. He played just one game last season and it was with the then New York Islanders' AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. During the 2019-20 season, he played just four games with the Islanders and had a goal. He also suited up in 34 contests with the Sound Tigers, where he had 11 goals and three assists. That's career goal 250 for @aladd16! 👏 pic.twitter.com/OIpiykbCw9

The Coyotes acquired Ladd along with a handful of picks this off-season. The Islanders needed cap space and getting rid of his $5.5 million cap hit made all the sense in the world. With Arizona rebuilding, there is no risk in them taking on bad contracts for high draft picks. Ladd's deal also doesn't expire until the 2022-23 season.
Nonetheless, it's fantastic to see Ladd back at the NHL level. Congrats to him for getting back on the scoresheet!
