Video: Auston Matthews Scores 200th Career Goal
In Monday's night contest against the Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews scored his 200th career goal on former teammate, Frederik Andersen. It was a pretty one, as he was successful with his wraparound attempt.
In his first three games after coming back from a wrist injury, Matthews was held off the scoresheet. However, it appears that he has now shaken off the rust, especially with how nice that goal was.
To achieve this big accomplishment, it took Matthews only 338 games. Every hockey fan knows that Matthews is an elite goal-scorer and the truth is in his statistics. Over his six year NHL career, he has scored at least 30 goals in all of them and has hit 40 goals in three. None were more impressive than his remarkable 41-goal campaign in just 52 games last season. He went on to win the Rocket Richard Trophy with it.
Don't be surprised to see Matthews begin to score in bunches again from here. Congrats on getting your 200th goal, Auston!
