Video: Detroit Red Wings Top Prospect Scores First NHL Goal
Detroit Red Wings prospect Lucas Raymond scored his first career NHL goal Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was a very nice one, too, as the young winger took a wrist shot from the right faceoff dot and beat Joonas Korpisalo top shelf.
Raymond was selected fourth overall by the Red Wings in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, so he certainly is coming in with high expectations. Thus far, he's played very well for a 19-year-old kid. In three games, he has a goal and two assists.
Raymond has a very bright future ahead of him in this league. It will be fun to see how many more nice goals he scores like this during his rookie campaign. If he keeps this kind of play up, he certainly would be in the running for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
