Video: Joe Thornton Scores First Goal With Florida Panthers
Joe Thornton scored his first goal as a member of the Florida Panthers on Sunday night against the Arizona Coyotes. The 42-year-old forward would retrieve a rebound in front and quickly bury it in the wide open net.
Thornton was a late summer addition by the Panthers. With Florida looking like legitimate contenders this season, it makes sense that the veteran opted to sign there. Over his fantastic NHL career, the one main thing missing from it is a Stanley Cup. Maybe that will change this year.
Thornton will look to continue to provide solid depth scoring and leadership for the Panthers as the season continues. He may no longer be the superstar center he once was, but he still can produce. In 44 games last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he scored five goals and had 20 points. If he can get on the scoresheet as regularly as that this season, he would be a very good addition for the Panthers.
Nonetheless, congrats to Joe for getting on the board!
