Video: McDavid Lays a Crushing Reverse-Hit

Last night's showdown between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks was a spirited affair. What eventually became a goalie duel between Vancouver's Thatcher Demko and Edmonton's Mikko Koskinen began as a hard-hitting battle between two Pacific Division rivals. One unexpected contributor to those big hits was Oiler's captain Connor McDavid. Normally a point-producing machine, McDavid took advantage of an over-committed Luke Schenn and sent the Canucks blueliner sprawling to the ice.

The Oilers would go on to win the game by a tight score of 2-1, although the Cancucks only managed to solve Koskinen with 5 seconds remaining in the game when Boeser managed to track down a bouncing puck and had a little too much time to pick his shot unobstructed. The Oilers' goals were both scored on the powerplay, one by Warren Foegele and the other by Leon Draisaitl. This hit by McDavid helped maintain the momentum the Oilers built in the 1st period, eventually resulting in the Foegele goal.

While McDavid will always be an unstoppable scorer, it appears he has added a bit more physicality to his game as well. It only makes him more dangerous. What a hit.
