Video: Penguins Sidney Crosby Provides Update On Comeback
The Pittsburgh Penguins are going to have to keep playing without their captain as Sidney Crosby informed the media on Friday that he isn't quite sure when he will be back.
Crosby admitted there isn't a date set in stone just yet as he's recovering from wrist surgery in the offseason. Crosby brought up the fact it was better to have the surgery now then miss multiple weeks during the middle of the season. Pretty crazy to hear he's been dealing with the wrist injury since the 2014 Olympics.
Crosby had this to say to the media on Friday:
We all felt like it was something that I wouldn't have gotten through the season if I didn't take care of it. I'm hoping it improves it a lot. This last year - with the scope and just dealing with it - it became more of an issue. Hopefully, it can feel a lot better here and I can kind of put it behind me. I haven't really had any force. Whether it be through faceoffs or lifting sticks. ... Those are things I haven't been able to do. When I can do that comfortably ... I think that will be a big step.
Here's the full interview from Crosby and some footage from his most recent skate. Let's just say, he looks to be doing just fine:
Crosby on recovering from wrist surgery: "Unfortunately, I ended up missing some time here early, but I guess the other side of it was missing a lot more games probably in the middle of the year. I’m glad we took care of it and hopefully I can get in the lineup here shortly.” pic.twitter.com/2XUQXaHV4K

Sidney Crosby working in a bit with the second power play. He also rotated a little with Drew O'Connor on the third line.
