Video: Red Wings' Alex Nedeljkovic Makes Outstanding Paddle Save

In Sunday night's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made the save of the year on sniper Alex DeBrincat. After a nice pass in front by Jonathan Toews, DeBrincat had a wide open net, but Nedeljkovic would rob him with a remarkable diving paddle save.

It would end up being a huge save for the Red Wings, too. Although they were up by a 6-3 score, the Blackhawks had a 5-on-3 and could have made a comeback possible if they scored on the play. Yet, Nedeljkovic's save kept Detroit's sizeable lead and Chicago would not score the rest of the game.

The Red Wings acquired Nedeljkovic from the Carolina Hurricanes this off-season in a lopsided trade. Although he let in seven goals in his first start against the Tampa Bay Lightning, he played very well in his following three appearances. In 23 games last season with the Hurricanes, he had a 15-5-3 record and .932 SV%.

Nonetheless, Nedeljkovic will be looking to carry over this momentum in his next start. The Red Wings play their next game on Wednesday night against the Washington Capitals.
