Video: Washington Capitals Defenseman Scores First NHL Goal
Washington Capitals defenseman Martin Fehervary scored the first goal of his NHL career Saturday afternoon against the Calgary Flames. After receiving a nice pass from Tom Wilson, the 22-year-old would beat goaltender Dan Vladar with a beautiful snapshot.
Fehervary is often viewed as one of Washington's top prospects, so it's nice to see the kid get on the board. It also was his first point of the season.Marty's 1st career NHL goal came just when needed 🔥 pic.twitter.com/isOIqZR98M

Fehervary was taken by the Capitals with the 46th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He is coming off of a fantastic season with the Hershey Bears as well. In 24 games, he scored three goals and recorded 17 points. It will be interesting to see how much of that offensive success carries over to the NHL. Today's goal certainly provides more optimism on that front.
Nonetheless, congrats to Martin on his big achievement!
