Video: Wild's Duhaime Cross-Checks Avalanche's Byram From Behind, Then Fights Nathan MacKinnon
Saturday night's game between the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche got very heated. Wild forward Brandon Duhaime first cross-checked Bowen Byram from behind into the boards. From here, star center Nathan MacKinnon would immediately stand up for his teammate and fight Duhaime.
It also has been noted by Michael Russo that Duhaime won't face any discipline for his cross-check on Byram. He did, however, receive a five-minute major penalty for it and a 10-minute misconduct during the game. It's fair to state that hockey fans will debate one another about NHL Player Safety's decision not to suspend Duhaime.
Told Brandon Duhaime won’t face further discipline for last night’s cross-checking major on the #avs’ Bowen Byram. Big break for the #mnwild, who are without Mats Zuccarello, Rem Pitlick Jordan Greenway and Alex Goligoski. Nico Sturm also looked banged up after the game.

MacKinnon is by no means known for his fighting ability, but it's always good to see a player stand up for a teammate after a big hit like that.
The Avalanche would get the last laugh, as they defeated the Wild by a final score of 4-1.
