2 Vegas Golden Knights Prospects Who Could Get Called Up This Season

As the season gets underway, players will begin to suffer injuries as they sacrifice their bodies for the sake of their team, not to mention the ever-present concern of a positive Covid diagnosis. Eventually, there will be players who will need to miss games, and others will need to be called in to replace them in the lineup. Here are two such prospects who could see some playing time on the Vegas Golden Knights this season.

Pavel Dorofeyev

The Knights have been patiently biding their time with this player. Drafted in the 3rd round back in 2019, Pavel Dorofeyev hung around for a couple seasons playing in the KHL in Russia. He came over to North America and played for the Henderson Silver Knights towards the end of last season, putting up 9 goals and 13 points in 24 games. It looks like a full offseason of training with Vegas' development team has done wonders, because this season he's got 6 goals and 12 points in 16 games, significantly outpacing his production from last year. He currently leads the Silver Knights in points and is tied for the team lead in goals, and he currently looks like he'll be able to help Vegas down the stretch as they work towards securing a playoff push next Spring. It's not just his production that is eye-catching however, it's the way in which he puts up those points. Dorofeyev is a crafty forward, with a fantastic set of hands and great on-ice vision to go with his smooth skating ability. He has struggled to fuse these factors together in the past - which is how he dropped to the 3rd round of his draft class - but now it all seems to be coming together for the 21-year old Russian. If he keeps scoring goals like this, he'll be in the NHL in no time.

Daniil Miromanov

Sitting behind only Dorofeyev in scoring for Henderson is Daniil Miromanov, an undrafted Russian player who was signed by Vegas towards the end of last season. The difference here is that Miromanov is a defenceman, and a right-handed shot at that. Not only that, but the 24-year old Russian is 6'4" and 200lbs, which makes his production all the more impressive. He currently has accumulated 2 goals and 9 points in 13 games with the Silver Knights this season, the kind of pace that suggests he's too good for the AHL, particularly on a Silver Knights team that has struggled with its offence this year. Miromanov has already been called up a couple times this season, mostly due to the Golden Knights' struggles with injury through the campaign's first month and a half, but he's managed to tally 1 assist in his three NHL games to date. Much like Dorofeyev, there's a distinct possibility that given Vegas' cap situation Miromanov will be relied upon to carry some of the ice time as the Knights make their push for a playoff spot. At 24 years old, he's the prime age for a long-shot defensive prospect to break into the NHL, and given his size and scoring ability, all signs indicate he's going to do just that.
