3 Potential Landing Spots For Ben Chiarot

The Montreal Canadiens currently have a 3-10-0 record and have a monstrous hill to climb to become competitive. Although they are getting Carey Price back, it's very hard to bounce back after that poor of a start. If they continue down this trend, this will surely be sellers at the trade deadline. One player with an expiring deal who teams will call about is Ben Chiarot.

The hard-hitting defenseman would certainly be a nice addition for a team looking to strengthen their bottom pair. He's off to a decent start this season, too, as he has two goals and an assist in 13 games. Keep in mind, he had just a goal and seven points in 41 games last season. This was after a 21-point campaign in 69 games the season before.

Here are three teams who could call the Canadiens about him.

New York Rangers: As we recently reported, the Rangers are looking for help for their bottom pair and Chiarot is a possibility. As Nils Lundkvist continues to get used to NHL competition, it wouldn't hurt to have a proven defenseman around, especially during playoff time. The Rangers are also desperately looking to move Libor Hajek, so perhaps there's a match here.

St. Louis Blues: The Blues are off to an excellent 7-2-1 start. However, one area that they could use a bit of improvement in is the left side of their bottom pair. Chiarot certainly could be a nice fit for them. He also plays a very physical game, which definitely comes in handy during the intensity of the postseason. They struck out on veteran Zdeno Chara this summer, so Chiarot could be someone who interests them.

New York Islanders: The New York Islanders could also take a look at Ben Chiarot. They would benefit from adding more depth on the backend and it doesn't hurt that Chiarot is a left-handed shot. He would create more competition on it and would give them another option for when injuries occur, at a minimum.
