3 Potential Landing Spots For Calvin de Haan

The Chicago Blackhawks are very likely going to start trading players soon. With October now done, the Blackhawks have an embarrassing 0-7-2 record. At this point, the playoffs already seem out of reach and they will certainly be sellers this trade deadline. One player who should end up being on the move is defenseman Calvin de Haan. He's in the final year of his contract and is a veteran who can help a team's bottom-pair. In nine games this season, he has yet to record a point. In 44 games last season, however, he scored a goal and had 10 points. That's not bad production for a third-pairing guy.

Here are three teams who could go after the 30-year-old.

New Jersey Devils: The Devils are off to a good start this season, as they currently have a 4-2-1 record. After all the off-season moves they made, it is apparent that they aiming to move past their rebuild. One area where they could look to get stronger is on the left side of their defensive core. Perhaps de Haan could be a player who interests them because of this. This is especially the case if he bounces back after a rough start.

San Jose Sharks: Similarly to the Devils, the San Jose Sharks are off to a far better start than fans would have predicted. They have a 5-3-0 record and are third in the Pacific Division. As a way to try to keep Tomas Hertl around, perhaps they will be aggressive now and strengthen their blueline to help their chances of being a playoff team. de Haan isn't a star, but he would add a bit more stability to what they currently have.

St. Louis Blues: Could the Blackhawks strike a deal with one of their rivals in the St. Louis Blues? With this season being horrendous for Chicago, they could be open to it. The Blues have a 6-1-0 record this season and look spectacular. However, one flaw they currently have is the left side of their defense. They were interested in adding Zdeno Chara for the bottom-pair this summer, but the future Hall of Famer went back to the New York Islanders. de Haan isn't the same kind of player as Chara, but he still would be good for them to add.
