3 Potential Trade Destinations for Evander Kane
The Evander Kane trade rumors are flying off the charts as his new Agent is working the phones trying to facilitate the deal for his client. Let's take a look at three teams that have been linked to making a deal for the San Jose Sharks veteran forward.
Carolina Hurricanes
The 'Canes with Kane? They have shown in the past they aren't afraid of bold moves that have included the offer sheet battle and signing Tony DeAngelo. Kane certainly brings baggage with him but at half the cost of $3.5 million for a power forward who can play in your top-six, on the hockey side of things it makes a ton of sense. The Hurricanes have a close knit group with veteran leadership who have won Stanley Cups, so this could be a good fit for Kane.
Vancouver Canucks
It's been reported the Canucks and Kane's agent have been in contact, but could you imagine the fire storm brewing in Vancouver if they have got off to this horrible start and then the first thing they do is add Kane to the mix. While he's from the area and there's a story line or two there brewing, this is not the fit Kane or the Canucks need. While the Canucks are certainly an option and have discussed the preliminary details of a deal, of the three this is the most unlikely destination.
Tampa Bay Lightning
The two-time champs have everything in place to be able to bring in Kane and not have him become a distraction. The Lightning have the cap space to make it work and need someone to replace Nikita Kucherov while he's on the injured reserve. Kane would give Tampa Bay a powerful winger who can light the lamp and isn't afraid to play a hardnosed style, which would look nice for the team in the playoffs. This move would certainly be a risk but given the coaching staff and the leadership group on the ice for the Lightning, they have the resources in place to keep Kane in check. This move would certainly turn some heads around the league and give Tampa Bay another piece for their scary offense.
